Featured Texas District Allen ISD
Allen ISD · Public School District
Allen ISD, one of the most recognized school districts in Texas, brought Helper Helper to Allen High School in 2025. Students find the service opportunities the school posts, check in at events with QR codes, report personal service projects, and sign in through RapidIdentity with the district account they already have. Every student can pull a certified service transcript to reference on scholarship and college applications.
More than 6,000 Allen High School students track their service in Helper Helper. The school is one of the largest high schools in the country, and when Allen ISD evaluated the platform in 2025, five Allen High School staff members worked through the free trial from both the student side and the staff side, testing photo submissions, text message workflows, event check-in with QR codes, and roster uploads before the district signed on. "The free trial [was] incredibly helpful for all of us to see updated and upgraded features and possibilities," Allen High School's Jennifer Clements told us during the evaluation.
Today Allen High School students sign in through RapidIdentity with their district account, browse the opportunities the school posts, check in at events with strict QR codes, log personal service projects with photos, watch their progress toward the school's goals, and build a certified service transcript they can attach to scholarship and college applications. Rosters sync automatically from the district's student information system over SFTP, so IT set it up once. Ereckson Middle School, one of the district's three middle schools, runs on the same platform. Allen ISD's adoption also cleared a path for other Texas districts: Helper Helper has executed the Texas National Student Data Privacy Agreement through the Student Data Privacy Consortium and enabled Exhibit E, so any Texas district can opt into the same agreement without starting from scratch.
How Helper Helper Supports Texas Schools and Districts
One Platform for Every Texas Service Program
Texas schools recognize service in different ways, and many run more than one program at once. Helper Helper handles all of them in one place:
- District graduation requirements: set a goal for your district's hour count, whether it is 10 hours or 50, and let students watch their own progress toward it in the app while counselors see who is on track in reports
- NHS, NJHS, and Key Club chapters: put each chapter on its own team so sponsors track only their members, with verified hours that never rest on a student's word alone
- Catholic and private schools: custom categories keep parish, campus, and community service separate, and parent service hours can be tracked alongside student hours, the way Bishop T.K. Gorman does
- District-wide rollouts: one platform for every campus with SIS roster sync and single sign-on through RapidIdentity, Clever, ClassLink, Google, or Microsoft, so IT sets it up once and rarely hears about it again
- Honor cords, scholarships, and college applications: students carry a certified service transcript with every opportunity, organization, date, and validated hour
Getting Started
Helper Helper integrates directly with the student information systems (SIS) and single sign-on (SSO) providers your school already uses, including Google for Education, Microsoft, PowerSchool, ClassLink, Canvas, and more. Students sign in with their existing school credentials and rosters sync automatically.

HECVAT-assessed, FERPA-compliant, encrypted in-transit and at-rest, hosted on AWS infrastructure.
This designation benefits both parties: for your school or district, it means you can deploy Helper Helper without the administrative burden of collecting individual parent consent for every student — the same way you onboard other essential technology platforms. For Helper Helper, it means we are held to the same strict data-handling standards as your own employees, giving your community confidence that student records are protected by the full weight of federal privacy law.
The FTC provides guidance confirming that schools may consent on behalf of parents in the educational context under COPPA. Please request to see our Notice of Data Practices for Children Under 13 and our Privacy Policy for further details.
The HECVAT was developed by the higher education community (EDUCAUSE) and is widely used by colleges and universities to assess the IT security, data protection, and privacy practices of third-party software vendors before adoption. While originally designed for higher ed, its comprehensive framework is equally valuable for K–12 schools and districts looking for a rigorous, standardized way to evaluate whether a vendor meets their security and compliance requirements.
AWS operates the most widely adopted and trusted cloud infrastructure in the world, with security practices that meet or exceed the requirements of federal agencies, financial institutions, and healthcare providers. Their data centers are protected by 24/7 on-site security, biometric access controls, redundant power and networking, and continuous monitoring.
AWS is independently audited against the most rigorous standards in the industry — including SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, and PCI DSS — and provides industry-leading uptime guarantees backed by a 99.99% service-level agreement. This means your school can count on Helper Helper being available when students and advisors need it.
Administrators can be scoped to specific groups, schools, grade levels, or graduating classes — an NHS advisor sees only their NHS members, a school principal sees only their school, and a district coordinator sees the full district.
Outside community partners receive organization admin roles that let them post their own volunteer opportunities, manage sign-ups, and confirm attendance for events they host, without any visibility into student records, other organizations’ events, or school-internal data.
Helper Helper is fully FERPA-compliant, giving your community confidence that student records are protected by the full weight of federal privacy law. We never sell or share student data.
For Texas districts, we have executed the Texas National Student Data Privacy Agreement through the Student Data Privacy Consortium, with Exhibit E enabled so your district can opt into the same agreement Allen ISD uses without starting from scratch. We also comply with FERPA and the Texas Student Privacy Act (Texas Education Code Chapter 32, Subchapter D), and we are ready to respond to RFPs and other procurement requirements.
Texas Success Story Bishop T.K. Gorman Catholic School
Bishop T.K. Gorman Catholic School · Catholic School
“Helper Helper has streamlined our entire service operation. Now opportunities, tracking, and reporting are centralized in one place, accessible to everyone. The biggest benefit has been increased engagement from both students and parents.”
Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Catholic School in Tyler asks both students and parents to serve, and before Helper Helper the two programs lived in different places. Student community service hours were kept in spreadsheets and parent service hours in the student information system. Service opportunities went out as PDFs, and a parent who wanted to help had to call the school office to find out what was available. When the school went looking for a platform, Director of Technology Michael Broaddus had a short list of requirements: single sign-on with Google, a roster integration with the school's SIS, and a vendor that takes student privacy as seriously as the school does. "We evaluated many platforms, and at the time, Helper Helper was the only one that met all of our requirements. We haven't looked back since."
Setup was the part Broaddus expected to be hard. "Roster integrations can sometimes be complex, but the Helper Helper team was supportive and responsive throughout the setup process." Rosters now sync automatically from the school's FACTS student information system through the FACTS API, which makes SIS integration, in his words, "truly a set and forget it process," and the Google single sign-on configuration was "well-documented and straightforward to implement." Both have run reliably since launch. The onboarding as a whole, he says, was "smoother than I anticipated" because the documentation was thorough and the Helper Helper team was available whenever a question came up. Student privacy held up under vetting, too: roster data moves over an encrypted connection, and SSO removes a separate set of credentials from the picture. "Student security and privacy are top priorities for us, and it's clear they are for Helper Helper as well."
Today opportunities, tracking, and reporting are centralized in one place that students, parents, and staff can all reach. Students no longer collect signed forms or track hours by hand, and reports that used to require manual effort now take, in his words, "just a few clicks." For the IT department the platform has been "largely hands-off," with day-to-day operations handled by a dedicated staff member. "Uptime has been excellent and technical issues have been few and far between. It's the kind of platform that stays out of your way and just works." The biggest change, though, is participation. With every opportunity listed and every hour logged in one central location, more students and more parents take part, and the school spends less time managing it.
“SSO with Google has been a win on both sides. For IT, it eliminates a separate set of credentials to manage. For students and staff, it means a seamless, frustration-free login experience. The configuration itself was straightforward.”
